Growing EV Adoption in 10 States and Counting for S Curve Strategies

 

Since its founding almost five years ago, transportation electrification consulting firm S Curve Strategies has worked to grow electric vehicle adoption in 10 states.

If you count the founder’s volunteer work as president of the Electric Vehicle Association it’s all 50 states. But we’ll focus on the firm’s consulting work for now.

California

  • Teamed with organizations across San Diego County to create the Accelerate to Zero Emission Coalition Roadmap

  • West Coast Clean Transit Corridor Initiative strategic plan development for charging heavy-duty electric trucks from the Canadian border along the I-5 to the Mexican border in San Diego

  • Implementing a $9.7M CARB grant for school bus electrification at the San Diego Unified School District

  • Rolled out the first EV time-of-use utility rate program for customers at San Diego Gas & Electric

  • Implemented the first day-ahead hourly rate program for customers in workplaces and multi-family communities participating in a $45M EV charging infrastructure program

Colorado

  • Developed a total-cost-of-ownership tool for the electrification of fleets and transportation network companies for the Colorado Department of Transportation

Illinois

  • Trained a team of utility employees on EV adoption best practices at Ameren Illinois

Kansas

  • Created a plan for Shell’s global marketing team to source zero- and near-zero emission vehicles from across the U.S. for the launch of their docuseries with Kaley Cuoco on the benefits of zero-emission transportation, called The Great Travel Hack

Missouri

  • Prepare internal utility team, residential and commercial customers, as well as regional and state stakeholders for the implementation of Ameren Missouri’s EV charging infrastructure program

 

New Hampshire

  • Developed the “New Hampshire Statewide Strategic Plan to Improve Electric Vehicle Infrastructure” to determine how the State would best support EV charging for tourism, businesses and residents

New York

  • Work with mass transit stakeholders throughout the state to electrify buses

  • Developed an electrification plan for the utility that recommended ConEdison’s next phase of pilot programs and demonstrated the opportunity to scale

Oregon

  • Developed an education and outreach plan for EV charging technical assistance to this Northwest utility for commercial customers participating in the utility’s new EV charging program

South Dakota

  • Developed the launch strategy for Black Hills Energy’s first EV charging infrastructure rebate program

Washington, D.C.

  • Was a lead author of the Smart Electric Power Alliance report that was the EV distribution planning guide for utilities on best practices for charging infrastructure implementation for passenger, medium-, and heavy-duty EVs

Vancouver, B.C. (Bonus!)

  • Implemented for CALSTART, Canadian officials and leading transportation electrification companies the 2019 Climate Energy Ministerial 10 (CEM10) workshop
