3 Ways to Solve the EV Infrastructure Challenge

What are the top three lessons learned when rolling out a transportation electrification program? S Curve Strategies President April Bolduc was asked that question to kick off a discussion with fellow emobility experts during Franklin Energy’s Impact Cafe. She was joined by colleagues from Entergy and National Grid.

“First, focus on delivering a positive customer experience,” said Bolduc. “If a customer has a positive experience after participating in an EV program that means they easily learned about the program, easily signed up, quickly got through approvals and permitting, construction went smoothly, and they were able to successfully operate the chargers.”

The second lesson learned was to keep it simple and continually look at your customer program sign-up and approval process. There are many key ways to streamline this effort, remove pain points that slow the EV charging infrastructure program sign-up process, and quickly gets the customer to “Yes!”

The third key lesson learned was to offer advisory services for fleet transportation electrification customers. The technology is new and they will need more assistance than typical customer programs because the technology is new.

The panel also discussed what's working on the EV policy front, where to focus partner efforts, the keys to facilitating EV adoption and transition to an electrified infrastructure, and so much more.
